What it
is
Bunions, (aka Hallux Valgus) are actually a bone
protruding on the inside of the foot around the big
toe joint, a result of the big toe moving closer
towards the small toes,. This also cause overlapping
toes.
On the opposite side or
outside part of the foot there is another type of bunion called a
Bunionette or Tailors bunion. This shows up smaller than the Bunion
and is from the small toe moving closer to the big toe.
How it happens
Women are mostly affected by bunion deformities and is usually
caused by wearing improper footwear, although this can be directly
related to arthritis or bio mechanical defect. Toes get squeezed
together from tight fitting dress shoes, feet start to take the form
of the shoe and that leads to Bunion formation.
